Old West Highway Guide 2009

Georgetown Cabins

a romantic getaway to renew your spirit

Couples should take the time to get away from it all to renew the spirit that brought them together.  According to the Ladies Home Journal, "Every six weeks, go away together without your kids  for 36 hours. This is called the Six Times 36 rule."

A great option for this getaway would be to find the peace and tranquility of Georgetown Cabins, located near the New Mexico end of the Old West Highway.  These newly constructed cabins surrounded by forest were built for couples and provide all the comforts of home.  All you need for this great getaway is your overnight, your favorite food and drink.

Lazy mornings, lengthy breakfasts, relaxing afternoons, moonlit nights - welcome to your getaway place.  Each cabin has its own private yard or wrap-around deck.  The views are endless and the solitude is calming.

Therapetic massages in your cabin can be arranged and dinner recommendations accommodated.

How about an easy stroll or hike through the forest and a romantic picnic?  Each cabin has a portable picnic pack including plates, silverware, wine glasses and a small cutting board for cheeses.

Enjoy bird watching?  We have an abundance of beautiful birds feeding at our many feeders.  You might see deer, wild turkey and our big, beautiful bull elk that has beeen seen near Georgetown Road.

A geologist's paradise, many enjoy searching for a unique rock or hidden gemstone.  Bring your bike and enjoy scenic Georgetown and Shingle Canyon roads.

Georgetown's history will bring you back as you unthread the Wild West of 120 years ago.  Lottie Deno and Cherokee Hall were infamous gamblers at Georgetown.  Deno was the inspiration for Miss Kitty on Gunsmoke.  Billy the Kid was from everywhere in southwest New Mexico, but his stepfather had a restaurant in Georgetown and Billy's juvenile misadventures are documented in Georgetown lore.

We are conveniently located near The Gila National Cliff Dwellings, Gila National Forest and Wilderness, Trail of the Mountain Spirits National Scenic Byway, Lake Roberts and Bear Canyon Lake, Gila Hot Springs and river and the beautiful Mimbres Valley.  We are minutes from Silver City's many art galleries, music festivals and entertainment.

Special occasions are our specialty.  We can provide a bouquet of flowers or roses upon your arrival.  Our arrival concierge services can make that happen as well as provide you with a box of chocolates or rose petals.

Time alone together in a quiet, peaceful setting with an easy return trip home on the Old West Highway - what more could one ask for?

Each cabin has endless views, a similiar floor plan and varying designs.  They are equipped with microwave, cook top, refrigerator/freezer, plates, cups, etc.  In the living room you will find a gas fireplace, twin recliner/rockers, high-definition satellite TV with DVD player and wireless internet.  Each cabin has a queen-size bed with linens, tub/shower, sink/vanity, shampoos, soaps and towels.  The private patios have a table for two and gas grill that can be used as an oven.
